No Impact on Trade

The main aim of the Houthi is to govern Yemen and provide its external support to its movements against the United States, Israel, and Saudi Arabia. According to officials there is no adverse impact on the export and import trade due to the red sea crisis. The transportation charges have increased as the shippers are taking the long route and it has not affected the ongoing tasks of the traders.

Who are Houthis?

The Houthis are a group of Iranian-backed rebels that are considered as an enemy of Israel. Here we can also say that Houthis are a group of an armed political and religious group which champions Yemen’s Shia Muslim minority, the Zaidis.

The Houthi movement is also known as Ansar Allah which we all know as (Supporters of God).AI-Houthi’s movement represented Zaidis and it also repels essential Sunnism chiefly Wahhabi ideas from Saudi Arabia. His followers are known as Houthis.

The group emerged in 1990 and it took its name from the movement’s late founder, Hussein al-Houthi. The current leader is Abdul Malik al-Houthi who is known as his brother. The Houthis fought a series of revolts against Yemen’s authoritarian president Ali Abdullah Saleh in early 2000.

The Arab Spring was forced to hand over the power to his deputy Abdrabbuh Mansour Hadi in 2011.President Hadi was surrounded with the problems. The Houthis apprehended the control of the northern province of Saada before taking the Yemini as capital. The security forces are still loyal to him. In 2015, the large parts of the western Yemen were seized by the rebels and after that Mr Hadi were forced to escape abroad.

Why are Houthis attacking Red Sea Ships?

Houthis are only responding to the war in the Gaza Strip and they started firing drones and missiles towards Israel. The Houthis have also hijacked a commercial ship in the Red Sea on 19th November. They also attacked more than two dozen and others with the help of drones, missiles and speed boats.

The Houthis have spread their fear in Saudi Arabia and they think that the Houthis will take over Yemen and after that they will make it a satellite of its competitor, Iran.

A ship called Ever Given ran aground in the Suez Canal in 2021, which has blocked the vital trade artery for nearly a week that holds a $10 billion in cargo every day. It has caused disruptions to global supply chains that have lasted for a long period of time.

What gives strength to the Houthis?

According to American officials, the weapons of the Houthis are domestically produced, which is known as missiles. The weapons of Hothis are home-grown and they are assembled with the components of the Iranian that are smuggled into Yemen in small pieces.
