Typhoon Dolphin Disrupts Freight and Logistics Across China

Typhoon Dolphin has brought significant disruption to eastern China, impacting transport networks, ports, airports and supply chains across one of the country’s busiest logistics regions.

The typhoon made landfall in Zhejiang Province, bringing strong winds, torrential rain and widespread flooding. Shanghai was also heavily affected, with hundreds of flights cancelled, metro services disrupted and precautionary measures introduced across transport networks.

What Does This Mean for Freight?

For businesses importing or exporting through China, the effects of Typhoon Dolphin could continue beyond the immediate weather event. Port closures and restrictions, interrupted road and rail movements, flight cancellations and the resulting backlog of cargo can all contribute to short-term freight delays.

As operations return to normal, shipping lines, airlines, terminals and local transport providers will be working through accumulated cargo, meaning some delays may continue even after conditions improve.
